Membership Types

Full Member

Any person working in a Kentucky city or county government who serves as a city or county manager, administrator, or chief of staff in an equivalent position with similar responsibilities and duties appointed by the local elected Mayor, Council, Commission or Board, or serves as a deputy or assistant city or county manager or administrator, or as an assistant chief of staff in an equivalent position. The KCCMA Executive Board will determine status as a Full Member if an individual’s position title varies from those listed herein. Full Members shall receive all benefits and privileges of the Association upon payment of required dues.

Dues: (Annual Gross Salary x 0.003)

Associate Member

Any person who serves in a Kentucky local government in an appointed position as a department head, mid-management or entry professional level position and is committed to professionally managed local government. Associate Members shall receive certain benefits upon payment of required dues, and may serve on committees but not as a committee chair. 

Dues: (Annual Gross Salary x 0.015)

Academic Member

Any person employed by or enrolled in an accredited college or university in Kentucky or is a native of the State enrolled at a college or university out of state who is teaching a course of study in local government management or is pursuing an educational curriculum or internship leading to a career in local government management. Academic Members shall receive certain benefits upon payment of required dues, and may serve on select committees, such as education and membership but not as a committee chair.

Dues: $50

Affiliate Member

Any person interested in local government management and the advancement of professional knowledge and practice, who is a current or past ICMA member, has at least two (2) years of prior local government work experience, or is a former member of the Association having been a member in good standing who is retired or is no longer working for a Kentucky local government, and is not employed by a company seeking or doing business with KCCMA or its member cities or counties. Affiliate Members shall receive restricted benefits upon payment of required dues.

Dues: $100

Honorary Member

An individual currently not employed in Kentucky local government who has distinguished him or herself for a minimum of twenty (20) years in the field of local government, with a minimum of ten (10) years serving in Kentucky, and who has rendered distinguished service to the profession and been an active participant in the Association. Honorary membership is intended to be highly selective and limited, and shall be granted upon a petition of at least five (5) Full Members and approval of the Executive Board. Honorary members participating in any Association activity may not do so in a way to represent or promote a commercial product or service. Honorary Members shall receive select 4 benefits and may serve on select committees at the President’s discretion, but may not serve as a committee chair.

Member-in-Transition

A Full Member dismissed or contract/employment agreement not renewed at completion of term from his or her local government position in Kentucky, or forced to resign under pressure for dismissal without cause, may retain Association membership for a period of one (1) year, provided the member remains domiciled in Kentucky and is actively seeking new employment. During said one (1) year period the member shall not be responsible for the payment of ordinary member annual dues nor have any voting privileges. The member shall receive one (1) complimentary registration to the KCCMA winter conference and may attend all Association meetings, events or activities at no additional cost. An additional one (1) year extension may be granted by approval of the Executive Board.
